Heavy increase in idle power between 2.6.22 and .24

I recognized an heavy increase on the power consumption too. With kernel 
2.6.22 I got about 16 W now it is 24 W when the system is idle ...

How to turn on usb power saving? I can not find anything about it in kernel 
config ...

But even if I unload all usb related modules the system uses more power with 
2.6.24 than with 2.6.22.
