Hello,
I am a Powertop user, and there is a couple of things that I'm missing.
First of all: sometimes Powertop tries to write to some file (like
/proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs, first one in my laptop) even
being a user. And if Powertop cannot writes there (permission problem,
etc.) user is not warned, so user gets confused -suggestion is done
again, etc.
I send a patch that handles it. It's very stupid patch, but somebody has
to do the stupid things :-) . Please, feel free to comment anything
about it (what to change, etc.). I will happily do it.
If this patch is welcomed, I worked a bit (but I need to finish it) on
patch that shows the stderr of system commands. Powertop calls to some
programs and usually doesn't check the return value.
Thanks!
