I've written patches for kwrapper & kinit to fix this.  Use at your own 
risk :-).  In case its not clear from context, if buggy it could break 
KDE startup.

My base KDE is looking pretty good now.  I just need to work out why 
kwin, kdesktop & kicker wake up every second after login, but don't do 
so if restarted manually (<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/136799>).
