Up until now I've been successfully using the hrtimers patches for 2.6.23 and
have my wakeups down to about 10/sec on an idle system (mostly due to compiz).
Recently I upgraded to a 2.6.24-rc1 kernel and used my old config file with make
oldconfig to ensure the hpet options were selected (they were). But when I
reboot into 2.6.24 then I don't have hpet as a possible timer (from
/proc/timer_list) and I get the warning message from powertop that I should
force-enable hpet.

My machine is a t41p thinkpad with an Intel ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M (82081DB/DBL/DBM)
and as I mentioned, it used to work with the last 2.6.23 hrtimer patches. Any
ideas on why the new kernel is not forcing hpet in my machine?

Alec
