USB Mouse difference and Modem card

Hi,

I just tried two usb mice, my normal optical mouse and a logitech laser
mouse, seems like the laser mouse uses ~50% less power (<0.3W for laser
and >0.5 for optical according to powertop (=not that accurate)).

Can anyone confirm these results? Is that expacted?

And I will try to remove the modem card of my notebook (Compal HGL30) -
has anyone ever tried this? Will it reduce power consumption?
