timer frequency how many hz?

hi to all,
i try to recompile my kernel 2.6.21.1 for best battery performance 
i have enabled:
CONFIG_NO_HZ
CONFIG_HIGH_RES_TIMERS
CONFIG_HPET_TIMER
CONFIG_PREEMPT to low latency desktop
and timer frequency to 1000hz
is a good choice or i must select a more slow timer frequency?

why powertop on my centrino's laptop(sony vaio vgn-fs485b) 
say that i don't enable hpet
support?

i have Wakeups-from-idle over 400 in every situation..:-(
on a really minimal conf:
always on wifi connection 
ion3 and no-one strange service (like dbus bluetooth etc)
i have enable config laptop mode and iwpriv to 5 .
