Just to keep everyone posted.

I've been having good luck since my last reboot, up almost two days 
now.  Playing music, watching video, lot's of other stuff that could 
stress my wakeups, but no real issues.

What I did.  I changed my configuration in KDE audio configuration to 
use alsa, it was previously set to "auto".  artsd doesn't even show up 
on the radar anymore.  This is gooooood.  I'm crossing my fingers and 
hoping that my configuration holds up in the long term.

Hirakendu, if you haven't tried this yet give it a shot.
